Well, I finally went and bought a new toy. Got a Wii today from TRU, plus I picked up Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Any other good games I should get?
Sorry about the lack of updates, life’s just been…busy. Pretty much all I do anymore is work, and WoW. Yes, I’m a nerd. Nothing more to see, move along, move along.
Not that I’m one for calling anyone out or anything….but I have some friends who just don’t post on their sites anymore. Should I just take them down, since they don’t use them? I’m talking to you, Jon Speck and you, Carrie Marcone.
Firstly, this is mostly for my family, but if anyone else wants to get me something off the list…..
Jack Kirby’s Fourth World Omnibus, Vol. 3
Death of Captain America
Also, a gift card to Newegg.com
If I think of anything else, I’ll add to the list.
The lesson here, we guess, is don’t always believe everything you read in a press release.
La La Land Records, the company that distributes the “Battlestar Galactica” soundtracks, recently issued a press release declaring that not only would the show’s fourth season premiere Jan. 11, but also would return to Friday nights, according to Battlestar Wiki. But apparently that’s not the case.
A spokeswoman for SciFi Channel denied the date to SyFy Portal, saying only that the show would premiere its fourth season in “early 2008″ and that it was “not January.”
One source told SyFy Portal earlier this week that the fourth season would premiere in February, but added that no firm date has yet to be set. It’s unclear if there is a move to return the show to Fridays, or if it would continue its Sunday airing.
What’s getting lost in the press release, however, is the fact that the Season 3 soundtrack with music composed by Bear McCreary will go on sale Oct. 23. Also, the DVD version of “Razor,” the “Battlestar Galactica” telemovie featuring the Battlestar Pegasus, will be released Dec. 4, more than a week following the broadcast of the extended episode on SciFi Channel. It is unclear if that date is also incorrect, however, executive producer Ronald D. Moore did say during a press conference last month that there was no guarantee NBC Universal would release the DVD the day after the broadcast, or if they may wait.
“Razor,” by the way, airs Nov. 24.

BioWare’s eagerly anticipated MMO is set in the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic universe, claims Primo Technology. The site attributes the information to a “source close to BioWare.” Though the source in question must remain anonymous, Shacknews spoke with Primotech and received further information that adds validity to the report.
Shacknews attempted to verify the news directly by contacting the gamut of companies that would be involved in such a project, including studio owner Electronic Arts, Star Wars license holder LucasArts, Star Wars Galaxies publisher Sony Online Entertainment, and of course, BioWare itself. Those that responded were, unsurprisingly, non-committal. When asked about the rumored title, a LucasArts representative could neither confirm or deny the claims.
Today’s report comes on the heels of Electronic Arts’ purchase of BioWare and sister studio Pandemic, for which the publisher paid an exorbitant combined sum of $860 million. “In fiscal 2009 and 2010, we expect the BioWare and Pandemic properties to deliver revenue in excess of $300 million annually,” said EA CFO Warren Jensen at the time. The potential earnings of an MMO from a well regarded developer, based on as lucrative a license as Star Wars, would lend credence to such a figure.
A Star Wars setting has been long-rumored for BioWare’s debut MMO title, with rumors picking up steam in recent weeks. Citi industry analyst Brent Thill recently told Gamasutra that, “based on past development work,” he believes the game to be a Star Wars title. Such a project could have been a major motivator in EA’s decision to spend $860 million on the acquisition of BioWare and Pandemic.
BioWare developed the LucasArts-published Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic on Xbox and PC, which was released in 2003 to critical and commercial success. Set 4,000 years before the Star Wars films, the RPG took place in that “civilized age” of which old Ben Kenobi spoke so fondly in the first Star Wars film. An Obsidian-developed sequel followed, though it did not quite receive its predecessor’s unanimous acclaim. Fans have been clamoring for BioWare to return to the franchise ever since.
In other science fiction BioWare RPG news, the company’s original property Mass Effect was announced as having gone gold today, with a release set on November 20 in North America.
BioWare’s Austin-based MMO division was founded in 2006, after which the company licensed a whole spate of MMO middleware. The untitled MMO is expected to see a 2009 release.
Rock Band, for the 360, will be the best thing ever. It just got even cooler.

In new IGN videos highlighting competitive drumming in Harmonix Music Systems’ upcoming rhythm game Rock Band (PS3, X360), new playable tracks are revealed: “Wave of Mutilation,” from the excellent Pixies album Doolittle, and Hole’s “Celebrity Skin,” from the album of the same name.
It is not clear whether the tracks will be included on the retail game disc or planned to be made available for purchase and download post-release.
When contacted by Shacknews, industry analysts estimated that the inclusion of a track from Doolittle boosts the awesomeness of Harmonix’s anticipated title by several hundred percent. Please, gentle readers, pray for the availability of the full album.
Is super good. Most I’ve laughed at a movie in a long time. I’ll most likely pick this up on dvd when it comes out even.
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
1 pkg. dry onion soup mix
1 can mushroom soup
1 lb. Velveeta cheese (opt.)
Butter
1 lg. onion, chopped
package of Dinner Rolls
Brown onion in butter sauce. Combine soups and ground beef, make into small patties. Fry in browned onion/butter sauce. Serve on “bun” (ie dinner roll). (Or brown onion in butter sauce then brown ground beef and drain grease. Add both soups and cheese. Heat until cheese is melted. Spread over buns.)
So we’re making this today for a cookout at my aunt and uncle’s house. Putting it here for postierity’s sake. (sp?)
